1. Do your research

This leads to another common problem, which is writing a FAQ page from the business owner’s point of view. Here, it’s important to remember that although a question may be relevant to the business owner, it can be completely irrelevant to potential customers. 

This is why research is the first step in creating an SEO-friendly FAQ page. Never assume what website users wonder or want to know. Instead, every question in the FAQs should be an actual question that customers or site users ask.

Useful research tools include:

  • Website surveys.
  • User research.
  • Ask your sales or customer service team.
  • Go over website analytics to find the most popular search phrases.
  • Use chat logs to find out common questions your customers ask.
  • Ask customers in person if you know them or have a physical store.

2. Make a list

If you’re thorough with your research, you’ll end up with a list of questions that people ask. But how many of those should you include on the FAQ page? There’s no right or wrong answer here, but if people are asking those questions, it makes sense to include them all.

5. Optimise them for SEO

To ensure the FAQ page is SEO-friendly, you want to make sure that both questions and answers feature the keywords you want to rank for. The usual keyword guidelines apply: avoid keyword stuffing and ensure they flow naturally with the text.
