Prepare for the Core Web Vitals Google Update 2021; elements you need to know

A couple of times each year, Google updates its search machine algorithm with the so-called Core Updates. That makes perfectly good sense because the updates intended to improve Google’s judgement upon which websites are the most worthy of the positions on the first page of Google. And by that, Google creates the best opportunities for searchers at Google to find the most relevant content for the things they are searching for. And if your business wants your content to rank on the first page of Google, it is highly relevant for you to know about these updates, preferable before they are rolled out. And luckily for you, we already know a bit about an update, which Google has claimed will be rolled out in 2021; the Google Core Web Vitals.

In this article, we will tell you about the most important elements to know about this 2021 Core Update.

Understand the Core Web Vitals Update

The Core Web Vitals is an algorithm update that also contains brand new ranking factors that never before has had a direct impact on keyword positions at Google. And the fact that we already now know a bit about these new ranking factors makes it much easier for your business to take in consideration when you write content.

How to optimize your site for this new ranking factor?

There are a lot of factors that need to be taken into consideration for optimizing your website for this page speed ranking factor, JetOctopus did a survey on Core Web Vitals optimization where experts have shared deep insights into how important it will be as a ranking factor as well as what future holds for coming algorithm updates.

The new ranking factors

The update contains three new ranking factors:

Loading Experience

This ranking factor is by the update called Largest Content Paint (LCP). It is going to be used as a metric to measure the assumed speed in relation to how fast the main content is to load at a website.

Interactivity

This second-ranking factor is called the First Input Delay (FID). It is going to be used as a metric to measure how users can interact with the website. It measures things like how much time it takes before and interactivity happens at a website. To give an example, about this metric it would for instance probably be a good idea to integrate one or more interactive elements at a content-heavy post like this piece of Danish content about IT security

Visual Stability

This third ranking factor is by the update called Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS). It is supposed to measure how stable the site layout is; how much does the layout change in ways that are inconvenient for users.

Now you are hopefully wiser

We hope that you now are a little bit wiser on Google’s Core Web Vitals Update and the related new ranking factors. Fortunately, you have 2020 to prepare your content for the update so there is no need to be stressed about it now.
